Pursuit for the Cure was started in 2008 as a fundraiser for the American cancer society’s relay for life. The location is Baileyton “Good time Dragstrip” which is a 1/8 mile dragstrip outside Arab Al. The idea was simple get racers and cops together for a day of fun at the track together not the racers running illegally on the street and raise money for a good cause while doing it. The first year it raised over $5,000 which went directly to the relay for life to help find a cure for cancer. The day not only puts police cars against the street cars it also is a competition between the different departments, different brands, and who is the best driver. The spectators have a fun day of watching drag racing, good food and getting to spend time getting to know there local law enforcement officers 1 on 1 instead of just passing on the street. |
